In 2019 it will be 60 years since the special relationship between Chichester and Chartres began with the signing of the official twinning document. To commemorate this anniversary the Friends of Chartres are planning a year of Anglo-French events.
The highlights include a programme of classical music by English and French composers performed on 22 nd June 2019 by The Chichester Singers in the beautiful setting of Chichester Cathedral.
Chichester Playwright, Greg Mosse, has been commissioned to write a short play in English and in French. This will have a humorous theme and will be performed by a local cast of bilingual actors at the Riverside Theatre.
There will also be creative events to get involved in – the ever popular annual schools Art Challenge and, new for 2019, a short story competition – “ A Tale of Two Cities” – which will have categories for children and adults.
All these events are at the very early planning stage and other ideas are welcome.
Come and join the Friends of Chartres as we cement the “entente cordiale” in 2019.
